#1 – Here Hostel

Bangkok Hostel Here

Bangkok Hostel Here

Bangkok Hostel Here

This restored 100-year-old building is now “Here”, an inspired hostel with influences of traditional Thai livelihood. It keeps up this charm with various classically Thai antique decorations. But what makes this hostel feel like home is most certainly the service. Staff are fluent in English and incredibly helpful. Breakfast isn’t run-off-the-mill either, offering a bit more than a basic fare.

For the more private, you’ll be happy to know that the bunk beds have curtains that give you your own space if you wish.

Minimalist. Bold. Funky.

This hostel appeals to anyone who just wants a no-frills, clean and simple place to retire at the end of a busy day out in Bangkok. Service here is top-notch, with everything well thought out to get you recharged with zero hassle. You’ll get proper comforters and the place is always spick and span. If need be, laundry service is available too.

Conveniently located near the Huai Khwang MRT, you’ll be within reach of famous markets like the Talad Rot Fai Ratchada market, and just a few stops away from Chatuchak Weekend Market.

The best part? Yim Hostel is an artwork in itself. Bold styles and slick designs keep you inspired and energised if their beds don’t do the trick. It’s difficult not to fall in love.

#4 – Bangkok Bed and Bike

Bangkok Hostel Bed and Bike

Bangkok Hostel Bed and Bike

Bangkok Hostel Bed and Bike

Opened recently in 2014, Bangkok Bed and Bike is a high concept and absolutely funky hostel. It takes you on a nostalgic ride back to the 50s and 60s, which is precisely the period when this heritage building was built. Indeed, the hostel sits on Charoenkrung Road, the first road of Thailand, and was the main road of commerce and trade til today.

It certainly feels like a hideaway from the hectic city around it, especially with its vintage decor and ambience.

If you like, you can rent a bike for a half or full day at just 250 or 500 baht (USD 7-14)! It’s a great way to explore the old Bangkok neighbourhood and scoot off to sample some of the best local foods in town (all around the area). The hostel even provide guided tours – just ask the reception!

We think these little touches make Bangkok Bed and Bike the perfect hostel for the more adventurous group travellers. Imagine the fun!

Bangkok Hostel Kama Bangkok

Bangkok Hostel Kama Bangkok

Bangkok Hostel Kama Bangkok

If anything, Kama hostel doesn’t deserve to be called a hostel. It feels very much like a boutique hotel, and for the price it exceeds expectations by far.

What’s most striking about this hostel is how meticulously clean and pristine it is, which creates an immensely welcoming ambience. While it may seem sterile, the outgoing and attentive staff add life and warmth to the hostel. There’s just the right balance of buzz and bliss that makes Kama hostel feel like home away from home.

It’s almost impossible to feel down at Glur – it’s poppy colours and simple, quirky furniture are sure to keep your spirits high throughout your stay. Glur, which means “friend” in Thai, evokes the sense of excitement, warmth and nostalgia of being amongst your best friends.

Which is precisely what we recommend: this hostel is great for friends travelling together.  It’s just a few steps from the Chao Phraya River, and you can hop on a boat down the river to Asiatique for great restaurants and the famous riverside market. Better yet, the Saphan Taksin BTS station is right next door, which is incredibly convenient.
