Chatuchak is renowned for its unbelievable bargains for goods of impressive quality. But if you thought those deals were as good as it gets, well… Picture this:
Shirts that usually go for 400 baht (approx. USD 11) at Chatuchak on weekends are considered amazing steals… But imagine those same shirts going for only 100 baht (approx USD 3). Wait what?
Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to have your minds blown. Welcome to the…
Chatuchak Friday Night Market!
The lesser known incarnation of the famous weekend market, Chatuchak Friday is essentially Chatuchak at wholesale prices. Expect to get things at nearly HALF the price than what you’d normally pay for at Chatuchak on weekends.
It all happens at the same place, except it’s on Friday night instead, from 10pm to 4am. This is great for a couple of reasons:
- The weather is cooler as there’s no sun
- Crowds are much thinner since the hours are unearthly
How it Works
Prices are ridiculously cheap here because these goods are priced for wholesale. That means you need to make a purchase of at least three or more products at the same store in order to get such prices.
So the trick is to shop Chatuchak Friday with your friends! This way, you can take full advantage of the wholesale pricing and get the same goods for much much cheaper than at the usual Chatuchak weekend rates.
Bear in Mind…
Chatuchak Friday is naturally smaller in scale than its bigger incarnation on weekends.
Only these stalls are open at Chatuchak Friday, and all other parts are closed. But considering the sheer size of Chatuchak itself, this represents nearly 40% of all the Fashion stalls available at Chatuchak, so you aren’t actually missing out on a lot.
So, if you’re a night owl and love snagging the bargain of bargains while visiting the world’s largest weekend market, get your weekend shopping started early by heading to Chatuchak Friday Night Market.
Indeed, the early birds really do get the worms.
