Chatuchak Weekend Market (often called JJ Market locally) is perhaps the holy grail of all weekend markets. It’s the one everyone means when they say “Chatuchak”. It is the largest weekend market in the world, and possibly the most fascinating too!
If you ever thought “cheap yet good” products were hard to find, then you absolutely must visit the Chatuchak Weekend Market and have your paradigms shifted! Lots of what you’ll find here are very well-made at prices that won’t break your bank.
But don’t just take our word for it. You’ve got to explore its treasures for yourself!
Find Your Style!
Ah… fashion in Chatuchak. If it ever needed a reason for being, this would be it. Many of the outlets here, especially at the main fashion district (map) are where many budding fashion designers and entrepreneurs begin to make their mark.
So when we say clothes are cheap and good here, there’s a very good reason for it. Many stalls here bring distinctive, quality goods at competitive prices. Who knows, that little stall you’re patronising today may be tomorrow’s high fashion boutique at Siam.
Fashionable Clothing and Shoes
Shopping haven for the ladies and at affordable prices! Along the fashion district are where you’ll find some of the most popular and stylish ones. And with ShopJJ, we’ve curated and picked our favourites you can buy online!
Clothes and Accessories for Guys
Man up and dress up! Chatuchak’s got plenty of fashion for guys as well. We’re talking outstanding handmade leather shoes below US$80, woven leather bracelets, and tees/shirts to fit all styles.
As usual, we’ve picked some of our favourites, but there are so many more brands at Chatuchak that we’re sure you’ll love too!
It’s pretty common to spot couples wearing similar t-shirts in Bangkok, maybe it’s time to get one set too?
From earrings, necklaces to bracelets… You name it, they make it! Many young Thai artisans hand-make the accessories here, which usually means that the trinket you’re eyeing is the only one of its kind.
One of our favourite picks from Chatuchak is TM Made by Heart. You can get your name/initials or a sweet message hand-engraved on premium 925 silver or plated gold rings, brands or pendants, right on the spot!
Some straps are purely functional, we get that. But for most of us with our insta-cams for Instagram, we want it as fashionable as can be!
Many of the strap designs are collaborative efforts from people who specialise in each part of the product. For example, Candy Leather‘s straps (Disclaimer: They aren’t really from Chatuchak) are made by photographers who dabble in leather working and fabric design.
These aren’t your usual flea market eyewear that are often also eyesores. They’re actual local Thai designer eyewear brands that produce some really amazing and quirky designs! They look good, make you look good, and are astonishingly very well made. They come in all shapes and sizes too, so you’ll be spoilt for choice!
Discover a wide range of hand-made leather goods, from belts to shoes, bags and other small accessories. Being locally sourced, Thai leather is affordable, and supports many rural communities that continue practicing this trade — many for generations! On top of that, many Thai leather craftsmen have trained under some of the finest masters in Italy, and have used this experience to pursue their passion back home.
While there are hundreds of leather craft shops available at Chatuchak (and all over Bangkok), there are some that really stand out from the crowd. The Sleeveless Garden is one that looks like it belongs at upstream Siam, but has humble roots at Chatuchak too.
My personal favourite though, is Brown Stone. They primarily make shoes (which are so incredibly comfortable it’s not even fair), but have some ingenious takes on belts, bags and other accessories too!
Help Us Discover New Brands!
There are thousands of stalls all over Chatuchak, and we might have missed some true hidden gems! If you think you’ve found something really cool that deserves more love, please tell us! We’ll feature them in a Journal post, or even bring them aboard ShopJJ so friends all over the world can find them too!

The original coconut ice cream stall (map) that’s famous the world over. For just a couple of dollars, you get the tastiest coconut ice cream served in a freshly hollowed out husk. Add your favourite toppings (ours are sweet corn and nata de coco) and enjoy! Better yet, every order comes with a free cup of refreshing natural coconut water!

Tucked behind the main fashion district (map) is a humble stall dishing out a fusion of Vietnamese + Thai traditional cuisine. Come here for the fried chicken: this is the real finger-licking-good deal!
These cups of swirly colour are the perfect thirst quencher, especially at Chatuchak! They’re all the rave in Bangkok right now… maybe it’s thanks to their psychedelic colours?

Clothes for the Little Ones
The thing about kid’s clothes is that the kids outgrow them so quickly. It kinda makes investing in their wardrobe a bit of a waste. But when these clothes go for barely US$10 a piece, and they look so good too, it’s kind of a no-brainer. Plus, imagine just how cute they’ll look!

Every Saturday and Sunday

Our favourite way is to take the MRT and alighting at Kamphaeng Phet Station. You’ll avoid ALL of Bangkok’s notorious traffic jams, and emerge right inside the Chatuchak Weekend Market.
